In 1861 George had lost his first wife Elizabeth and was living in Southend, Lewisham with his sister, mother and mother in law (presumably looking after his five children). By 1871 George and Ann had both moved to the Gipsy Road area of Londoin SE27, and George was running a shop. Their sister Rebecca was close by, brothers Amos and James a short distance in Brixton.

246 Gipsy Road is now Pomodoro - its the only shop with 4 upstairs windows and the right configuration to have been George's establishment from 1852.
