Alfred

1866 - 1893

Alfred was the 6th son of George, the second of Mary Sole Kidman. His 27 odd years saw him attend Salters Hill School, named Fred, He joined on the 12th June 1876, having been at Lower Norwood National School, but on the 28th July 1877 he is said to leave for a private school - having finished his primary education (Salters Hill only opened about 1875).

Not recorded as employed in any way in the 1881 census at the age of 14, in 1891 he is living with parents at 5 Bon Marche Terrace and employed as a blacksmith.

He only made one more birthday, for he was burried in West Norwood Cemetary on 28th February 1893. The burial record records that he lived at 246 Gipsy Road (father George's shop) but he had been removed from St Saviours Infirmary, East Dulwich. He was 25 and unmarried.
